Drug Take Back Day scheduled for Oct. 28

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office will take part in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Nationwide prescription Drug Take Back Initiative from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 28 at Southport Volunteer Fire Department, 1001 Carl St., Elmira; and West Elmira Fire Department, 1299 W. Water St.

Chemung County residents are encouraged to turn in their expired and unused prescription medications for proper disposal. Medications can be kept in their original container with the label intact, however, they may blacken out their name. Medications, ointments and sprays are accepted. Needles will not be accepted.
