The late-night comics debate the meaning behind Melania Trump’s jacket. Take a look, then vote for your favorite joke at usatoday.com/opinion. Eileen Rivers, USA TODAY Opinion
The comics react to the reaction over the first lady’s jacket. Message, no message? Hear the debate in Best of Late Night.
Remember the days when clothing scandals that broke the internet boiled down to deciding whether a dress was white and gold or black and blue?
First lady Melania Trump may have just lowered the bar. Folks all over social media and news websites were asking a very different question last night about the jacket Trump decided to wear on her way to the border. When she boarded a plane to visit children who had spent days separated from their parents, the words “I really don’t care. Do U?” adorned the back of her $39 Zara selection. And instead of debating the color, people debated the message: What was it? Or was there one at all?
Late-night comic Stephen Colbert answered the jacket with a resounding yes, we do care! Find out what else he had to say about the jacket’s message in today’s Best of Late Night, above.
Jimmy Kimmel asked a very different question: “Remember when Michelle Obama showed her bare arms and went to an oil spill and Fox News went nuts?” The comic is sure the station will have an equally critical reaction to this. Or will they?
Take a look at our favorite jokes from last night’s late-night lineup on the first lady’s choice and trip. After that, vote for your favorite in the poll below.
